Sridevi passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018, in Dubai at the age of 54. The veteran actress was in Dubai to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding. She looked beautiful, ethereal and hale and hearty in the photos that she shared on her social media platforms. However, God has some other plans for her and she died due to a cardiac arrest. Sridevi was probably the first female superstar of Bollywood and her untimely demise has left her family saddened and trying hard to come to terms with their loss. In a cruel twist of fate, history repeats itself when Janhvi Kapoor who is about to make her debut on the silver screen with Dhadak will not have Sridevi’s presence beside her when she starts on her film career. Janhvi Kapoor could not attend cousin Mohit Marwah’s wedding in Dubai as she was busy shooting for her film. As destiny would have it, Mona Kapoor (Shourie), Boney Kapoor’s ex-wife and mother of actor Arjun Kapoor had passed away at 48 due to cancer. She also, could not see her son’s debut film, Ishaqzaade. Ishaqzaade released in may 2012 whereas Mona Kapoor (Shourie) passed away on March 25, 2012. Sridevi passed away a few months before Janhvi Kapoor’s debut in July. Sridevi’s younger daughter Khushi Kapoor was with her in Dubai as she had accompanied her parents to the wedding. Khushi Kapoor and Sridevi had been sharing their glamorous looks from the wedding on their social media pages and the mother-daughter duo looked happy in each other’s company before tragedy struck. Sridevi was the second wife of Boney Kapoor, who was previously married to Arjun Kapoor’s mother Mona Shourie. Boney Kapoor has two children from his first marriage – Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor. With the sudden demise of Sridevi, Boney Kapoor has once again undergone the anguish of losing a spouse.
