IIT graduate quits high-paying job to make quick money, after 10 years of struggle, he is now….

He had a high-paying job which he left.

New Delhi: IIT Kanpur graduate and co-founder of Bengaluru-based OkCredit, Harsh Pokharna had a dream and desire to make it big with his own start-up. So, he left his high-paying job to pursue his dream.

Harsh Pokharna shared his journey via Instagram in which he tells that building a start-up is a dream for many, but the reality can be far more challenging. He recently shared his decade-long entrepreneurial journey, shedding light on the struggles that come with launching a business.

Pokharna was working with Flipkart but left that job as he was inspired by many others around him who made a lot of money with their respective start-ups. He also cherished the ambition of making a lot of money quickly and make a name and place for himself among the other successful start-up founders.

But reality soon hit him as the beginning was not what he had imagined. He decided to change the business but without luck. He tried two more different businesses but the outcome was the same. He was left financially stressed and his savings were exhausted. To sustain himself and his venture, he resorted to freelance work and along with that he continued to work on probable projects.

He had some success after a period of two years as he co-founded OkCredit.

OkCredit is a digital ledger platform for small businesses. The new venture yielded good returns and it taught him a valuable lesson, “success in the start-up ecosystem is not instant”.

Harsh Pokharna says that starting a business and to start earning from it requires patience. There is no shortcut to achieve success quickly.

• Absolutely true its been 3 plus years since im trying to bring it ashore among all the storms the ship just wouldnt sink because i dont want it sinking yet sails but only through the harsh storms very difficult i can only imagine the kind of struggle!!! But be assured your ship will come ashore soon!!

• It’s not only you, but it happens with many, my friend was on a very good job in 2000, he purchased two houses and was good going, one morning he thought of start up and start business, but he failed, he lost both houses and now he is working for a company
• In any field you enter, the 1st five years you do not know what you do not know. Next five years you know what you do not know. Further ten years you spend on correcting those do not knows. And if you continue for another 20 yrs with that experience, you are recognised as somebody in the field.
• Perfect… If you wanna solve some issue or really disturb some established big business then other things will fall into place if you try to make money through an idea you are heading fir disaster.
