What begins melodiously with the nostalgic slightly modified tune of Malgudi Days, the latest advertisement by TATA Enterprises, will eventually make you regret for wasting two-and-a-half minutes of your precious time. The harmonious tune of the yesteryear show created by R. K. Narayan, will tie you to your seat to see what is in the offing. The creative of ‘TATA Gluco Plus Energy Drink’ musical ad-film has the potential to make you believe that it might be the best commercial of the year! But hold on to your horses!
The new commercial in town appears to be following the same path as that of a sine wave i.e. a trough follows a crest but then that’s the end of it. It never rises back to the top! The clip sees a vintage bus converted into an aeroplane landing in a South Indian locality where every civilian rushes to board as if it were a local train at Mumbai suburbs. The hustle-bustle in the advertisement, with the canny-looking driver gives a picture perfect feeling, only to turn out to be a dud later. (Also read: Ratan Tata to head Railways Kaya Kalp council)
After the passengers successfully board the large aircraft in the middle of town, it refuses to start! Miraculously, the energy levels (fuel) plummets down within matter of seconds. The driver wants some people to push the flight like it were a car. The conductor spots a group of young boys and the advert goes haywire right from that moment!
