Dhanush and the team that gave the immensely popular Vellai Illa Pattadhari (VIP) is back and from the looks of it, have stuck religiously to the winning formula of their earlier venture. A clean shaven, teenage Dhanush is seen wooing Amy Jackson, a girl from his neighbourhood. The protagonist is a no-gooder and jobless for the most part. After getting rave reviews for her performance in Shankar’s  ‘I’, Amy looks in great form here as well and emotes well and gets her lip-sync spot on. After the fun and frolic in the first half, Dhanush is coaxed into marriage by his parents and this is where Samantha enters the scene. In what is a stark contrast to the bubbly roles the actress has played so far, she is understated, mature and is seen wearing a saree. Samantha has also dubbed her own voice for the film. Dhanush, now older, mature and sporting a handlebar moustache and thick glasses is responsible and serious about his job. This is where problems crop up and he makes some rivals who want to pull him down. From thereon, it looks like the story shifts to how Dhanush clears his obstacles. Anirudh’s songs are already a hit but the theme and Dhanush’s character is not even a shade different from his hit films in the past.
