The 71st Independence Day was celebrated yesterday in India with much fanfare and fervor. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurled our National Flag from the ramparts of Red Fort and gave a speech that uplifted and motivated Indians to carve a better India in the days to come. A Facebook post shared by an assistant teacher at an Assam school hoisting the National Flag in the school premises is going viral. You might ask what is so special about this. Well, the fact is that the National Flag was unfurled when the school premises was flooded. The National Flag was unfurled at a school in Dhubri district’s Fakirganj in Assam amidst flood waters. He uploaded the photograph with the words, “Happy independence day to all…..
I m the asstt teacher at this school, school name…1185 No. Naskara LP school.. under Fakirganj Police station. Dhubri….no need to tell how we are right now, pic will tell all the stories…i did not expect this kind of support….thank you all for sharing this picture.” The picture is so moving that it bears testimony to the love and adulation the Indians bear for our country. The picture shows two small boys who are chest deep in flood waters saluting the tiranga. This photograph by Mizanur Rahman shows that floods and heavy rainfall did not deter people from celebrating the Independence Day. Despite taxing circumstances people took the risk and kept their spirits up by hoisting the Indian National Flag. Assam is grappling under worst flood scenario and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised every kind of support and help would be given to the state. The Prime Minister reportedly spoke to Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal and assured him of all help and support. However, it is really heartening to see that Indians are taking pride and celebrating the Independence Day with such devotion.
