In India, we take cleanliness extremely casually. Unfortunately, we never think twice before littering or before strewing the place with litter. We spit anywhere and everywhere, openly urinate and defecate and never think twice about throwing that waste paper or empty drinks bottle out. Or even if we do spot a dustbin nearby, we never bother putting our dirt in the dustbin. Unfortunately, while the dustbin stands empty or over-flows, there is garbage littered all around it with insects and flies buzzing over it and stray animals scavenging in it for some morsels. The situation is terrible and comes to light when each monsoon, even the seas throw out plastic when the tide is high! The Modi government tried taking steps to curb littering and tried to promote cleanliness in the country. The campaign titled the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan was in full swing in the initial days. Everyone could be seen cleaning and taking care of their place. Office workers too began scrubbing floors and wiping the dust off files. Celebs could be seen clicking selfies with brooms in their hand and a pile of dirt at their feet. No one shied away from cleaning. But a few weeks and situation returned to normal. People again began to litter without a thought and there was no care taken to keep the place clean. In fact, the situation did not improve even in the least! It stayed just as it was and in a few days, the country was back to square one. Quite a shame for us as a nation. Apart from being an extremely unclean country, India is also a terribly God fearing country. Looks like the Modi government has taken a quirky stand and tried to promote their Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan through this technique. The advert, sharing the biggest names of Bollywood like Kangana Ranaut, Amitabh Bachchan, Isha Kopikar, Omkar Kapoor, and Ravi Kishan is a unique take on the littering issue. It takes up India’s faith and turns it around admirably. The advertisement opens in a household where the husband is praying in front of a home-temple and the wife, emptying the dustbin, throws the dirt out. Suddenly the God from the frame the husband is praying to disappears!

The advert continues in this strain and shows us multiple examples of people littering and each time, a diety disappearing from the frame they have in front of them. Along with the deity disappearing is also a long green cloth end fluttering in the wind. What is this cloth? Why do the Gods disappear from their frame? What is the connection between littering and God? This video amazingly gives us the answer!
