For the first time ever, an AC train built by the Integral Coach factory in Chennai has reached Mumbai. Yes, the first ever AC local train will function on Central Railway’s Harbour Line in Mumbai. Mumbaikars would get to travel in an AC local train on Harbour line for the first time ever. The 12-car blue and silver colored train is worth Rs 54 crore and will soon be functional. The AC local train reached Mumbai from Chennai, it will undergo a test run, post which within a span of three to four weeks, the first ever AC 12-car local train is expected to function. The basic fare of the fully air conditioned local train has yet not been announced, but according to the reports it could be between Rs 60 to 70. Narendra Patil from CPRO Central Railway said, “The first AC local has arrived at Mumbai, Kurla car shed. The entire rake has been indigenously developed under Make in India campaign. The trial run will be conducted within a week at a Central Railway trans railway track. The train has some of the finest fitted electrical systems. It is the first indigenous suburban electric multiple unit developed by Indian Railways.
