Tirupati Balaji Temple opens Demat account to accept donations through shares!

It may very well be the world’s first temple to have opened a Demat account. Yes, the Tirupati Balaji Temple has now opened a Demat account to accept donations from devotees in the form of shares and securities! Demat account number 1601010000384828 has been opened in the Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited (SHCIL) by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, managing body of the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple aka the Tirupati Balaji Temple.

As if cash and gold donations and stock certificates were not enough for the world famous temple at Tirumala, it’s now willing to accept people’s securities and bonds. The revered temple also accepts online donations.
