Vilnius: Amid rising cases of coronavirus across the globe, a man in Lithuania decided to lock his wife in their bathroom fearing she may have contracted the virus. As the woman was trapped in the bathroom, she called up the police seeking help and told them she was locked in her bathroom. The bizarre incident took place after the man found out his wife had met a Chinese woman who had been in Italy, worst-hit by the coronavirus in Europe. Meanwhile, in his defence, the husband said that he was only acting on the advice of medics when he forcefully quarantined his wife. She has decided to not press charges against her husband and no arrests were made.
“We got the report that a husband and two adult sons refused to let the woman out of the bathroom after she told them that she could have contracted the coronavirus,” national police spokesman Ramunas Matonis told AFP.
On Friday, Lithuania’s health ministry confirmed the country’s first reported case of coronavirus .
