Valentine’s Day 2018: Husband Continues 39 Year Valentine’s Day Tradition For Wife

The elderly couple has been celebrating Valentine's Day is the same way every year.

Valentine’s day which is celebrated every year on February 14 is almost upon us and love is already in the air with lots of love stories and other stories related to V day are cropping up. Now one more story of an elderly couple is going viral. Reportedly, Ron Kramer has been gifting the same candy box with dark chocolates for his wife, Donna since 1979.  Yes, Ron and Donna Kramer started dating a month before Valentine’s day. And they have been celebrating the same every year. From that year to this year, Ron gifts his wife favorite chocolates from Buffet’s Candy in the same box. Isn’t that adorable?

When Ron and Donna began dating, he asked Donna if she would like some chocolates for Valentine’s Day. Donna said him that she liked dark chocolate cremes from Buffet’s Candy shop. The staff of the shop told him that if he saves the box, they would refill it for him next year as well. And this is how their Valentine’s day tradition started off. This is the 39th year that Ron gifted the same chocolate in the same box.

Unfortunately, in 2014 Donna was diagnosed with dementia and she was moved to a nursing home. Despite that, Ron still goes to give her gift.  “She couldn’t write, she couldn’t speak, she couldn’t go to the restroom, she couldn’t do anything by herself,” Ron told KOAT. “She had to go into a home in August of 2015. And that was probably the saddest day of my life,” he added.

The good news is the Donna remembers him and she knows who he is and that they have been married for so long. “I know I am. That’s why I’m going to keep him. He’s a keeper,” she said. “I married him years ago and I love him as much today as I did then, Donna told KOAT.
