The liquor baron Vijay Mallya has over the past few years been selling off most of his assets, among them was his priced Airbus A319-133C jet. After three failed auctions, Vijay Mallya’s luxury jet has finally found a buyer, the US-based Aviation Management Sales, LLC. The American company emerged as the highest bidder, closing the auction with a bid of Rs. 34.8 Crore. This is far greater than the bids received at previous e-auctions held by the Service Tax Department. The bid by Aviation Management is subject to the approval of the Bombay High Court. The aircraft can accommodate seats for 22 passengers and was owned by CJ Leasing (Cayman) Ltd and was given on lease to Kingfisher. The ‘King of Good Times’ used to fly in this plus aircraft to London and the US, with a single refuelling halt. The jet has lavish interiors offering 6,000 cubic foot of living space.
