The USA women’s team put in a master-class on the field in as they completely dominated the Japanese team in the FIFA Womens’ World Cup Final 2015, putting five goals past them and conceding only two. US midfielder Carli Lloyd scored a 13-minute hat-trick including an astounding lob from the halfway line. The United States came out all guns blazing as they the 1991 and 1999 winners went two goals up within five minutes. Lloyd scored twice from set-pieces before Lauren Holiday volleyed in a third. Things really got out of hand when Lloyd added a fourth from behind the halfway line, which was Beckhamesque to say the least. Japan pulled two goals back but the US added a fifth to confirm their third title. This was highest scoring final in women’s World Cup history and was the same score-line by which the Brazil’s men’s team beat Sweden in 1958.
