Mumbai: Despite fervent appeals from the government and police, there are still some people who are seen aimlessly roaming around the streets, thus exposing themselves and others to the risk of contracting coronavirus. Meanwhile, in order to deter such people, police forces across India are adopting novel punishments and innovative ways. One such method which is going viral on social media is of a Maharashtra cop singing the Hindi song ‘Zindagi Maut Na Ban Jaye’ to urge people to stay indoors amid the 21-day lockdown. Also Read - Viral: Police Dresses up as Coronavirus to Create Awareness in Chennai | Watch

In the video, apparently shot in north Maharashtra, the policeman can be seen with a cordless mic in hand, asking people stay at home as part of the social distancing exercise. He sings, “Zindagi maut na ban jaye, sambhalo yaaron… (Ensure your life doesn’t turn into death, beware friends)” from Aamir Khan’s movie ‘Sarfarosh’.

State home minister Anil Deshmukh also lauded Maharashtra police efforts in making people follow the rules to and shared the video on Twitter.

“A Maharashtra police constable breaks into a song in a bid to convince people to cooperate and stay indoors …hope people listen to his musical entreaty! #FootSoldiersofWarOnCorona,” Deshmukh tweeted.

Many on social media applauded the policemen for their efforts in containing the virus including NCP leader and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule who wrote, Tooo good , so proud of our police and entire govt administration. I salute all of u with gratitude in my heart.”

Meanwhile, Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected of the coronavirus crisis that has taken the cases to 210 in the state.
