The White House has been holding daily press meetings and broadcasting them for decades now. However, United States President, Donald Trump and his team decided to ban cameras and avoid the live telecast of the event. However, CNN came up with a solution and sent their sketch artist to cover the event and shared the pictures of the Daily News Briefing. While the Bush and Obama governments encouraged the live telecast of the event, the white house price secretary, Sean Spicer decided to avoid the hassle and got burned by CNN’s response. The sketch pictures from the press briefing soon hit the internet and people began to troll the White House and their weird decisions that made no sense. The live press briefings helped people to get a daily update of the various policies and the progress made at the presidential house. After giving a no camera interview, Spicer did get in front of the camera for a special interview with Donald Trump’s favourite news channel, Fox News. This is not the first time that the US President and his heads have shown their double standard towards media. In fact, Donald Trump has always slammed CNN, Buzzfeed and other news agencies that have criticised his work for the country and also called them “paid news.”
Meanwhile, twitter had a wonderful day trying to make sense of the press briefings with the help of the pictures, and some innovative netizens made sure they even got a video footage. At the press meeting without cameras, Spicer was actually questioned about the ban on cameras, and he said, “Some days we’ll do it. I think it’s great for us to come out here and have a substantive discussion about policies. The CNN sketch artist who worked the magic was Bill Hennessy, who usually covers the Supreme Court for the news channel and his work will surely make Spicer and his team thing twice before retaining the camera ban. CNN has gone out of its way to make sure that the sketch from the White House spreads easily and has allowed other news agencies to use the sketch to spread the news. The press briefing at the White House usually turned into a comedy show as journalists fired away with their questions and put the press secretary, Sean Spicer in a tough situation.
