Deepak Prakash, son of Rashtriya Lok Manch (RLM) chief Upendra Kushwaha, came to the forefront when he actively campaigned for his mother in the Sasaram assembly constituency during the recently-held Bihar Assembly Election. However, it was his stylish wife, Sakshi Mishra, who stole the spotlight at the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who took oath for the state’s top post for a record 10th term on Thursday.?
A native of Uttar Pradesh, Sakshi Mishra is the daughter of retired IAS officer SN Mishra, and wife of Deepak Prakash, the son of RLM supremo Upendra Kushwaha.
Sakshi is an active social worker, and an avid social media user, with a good number of followers on her social media handles. Known for her stylish looks, Sakshi Mishra is active in politics and recently showcased her political rigor when she campaigned for her mother-in-law Snehlata Kushwaha in the recent Bihar polls, alongside her husband Deepak Prakash.
While Deepak Prakash campaigned for his mother in the elections, he did not contest the polls, and it was believed that Upendra Kushwaha’s wife, Snehlata Kushwaha, would be get a ministerial birth in the Nitish cabinet as her name was initially floated. However, Upendra Kushwaha sprung a surprise by picking his son for the cabinet berth.
On Thursday, Deepak Prakash Kushwaha, accompanied by his wife, Sakshi Mishra, took as a minister alongside 25 others in the newly-formed NDA government in Bihar, as Janata Dal (United) supremo Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of the state for a record 10th term.
Prakash is expected to be elected to the Bihar Legislative Council within six months, while his mother is now the MLA from Sasaram after securing the seat for the ruling NDA.
Notably, ahead of the oath ceremony, Sakshi Mishra had posted a cryptic message on Instagram, with a picture of her husband. A few hours later, Deepak was sworn in as a minister in the Bihar cabinet.
Last week, the ruling NDA registered a landslide victory in the Bihar Assembly Election, winning more than 200 seats in the 243-member House, with the BJP emerging as the single-largest party.
In contrast, the opposition Mahagathbandhan led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress, faced a rout in the state, winning just 33 of the 243 seats it had contested, with Congress securing a dismal 6 seats out of the 61 it fought.
