On 2 November, 2016 Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had gone to meet the family of ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal who had committed suicide over the issue of One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme. However, he failed in his mission as he was detained by the Delhi Police outside Lady Hardinge Hospital, where Grewal’s body was taken for postmortem. Later Arvind Kejriwal was taken to the RK Puram Police Station and released around midnight.
The police gave the reason for his detention as “disruption of health services”. They also stated that all the steps were taken in due accordance with law and the leaders were detained under Section 65 the Delhi Police Act.
Amid all this chaos Arvind Kejriwal live-tweeted his detention and was ever-present on Twitter. He gave minute-by-minute updates about what was happening at the scene. He actually refuted a report as well.
