Metro Man E Sreedharan’s Education

Sreedharan, 85, was born in 1932 in Karukaputhur, Madras Presidency, now in Kerala.

Sreedharan is known as the Metro Man because of his work which transformed public transport in India.

His major contributions are remembered for his work in Delhi Metro and also in the building of the railway in crucial regions of Konkan.

He completed his education at the Basel Evangelical Mission Higher Secondary School and then went to the Victoria College in Palghat.

He completed his Civil Engineering degree from the Government Engineering College, Kakinada from Andhra Pradesh which is known as Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University.

He started his career as a lecturer of civil engineering at the Government Polytechnic, Kozhikode.

Sreedharan cleared the Indian Engineering Service Exam in 1953 and joined the Southern Railway in December 1954.
