Mapanna Mallikarjun Kharge was born on July 21, 1942 in Varawatti, Bhalki Taluk, Bidar district of Karnataka.
Mallikarjun Kharge's parents were Saibavva and Mapanna Kharge; he lost his mother and sister at the age of 7 in a tragic fire accident.
Mallikarjun Kharge did his schooling from Nutan Vidyalaya in Gulbarga.
He then pursued BA from Government College, Gulbarga.
Mallikarjun Kharge then did law from Seth Shankarlal Lahoti Law College in Gulbarga.
Mallikarjun Kharge started working as a junior in Justice Shivraj Patil's office; his career in politics began with him being a student union leader during college.
Mallikarjun Kharge is currently the National President of Indian National Congress and also a Rajya Sabha MP from Karnataka.
