India’s first-ever participation in the Olympics in shooting came in 1952 Olympics in Helsinki.
So far India has won four shooting medals in history of Olympics with Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore breaking the deadlock at 2004 in Athens.
Four years later Abhinav Bindra put India on the world map with the country’s first-ever individual gold in Beijing.
In 2012 London Olympics, India won two more medals in Vijay Kumar (silver) and Gagan Narang (bronze).
For the unknown, Dr. Karni Singh is the only Indian shooter to compete in five Olympic games (1960, 1964, 1968, 1972, 1980).
In Paris Olympics 2024, India has sent 21 shooters, their largest-ever contingent in Summer Games.
India has high hopes from the likes of Manu Bhaker, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Anjum Moudgil and many more. India start their shooting campaign at Paris Olympics 2024 on July 27.
