Kolkata Rape And Murder: BJP I-T Cell chief Amit Malviya has accused the Kolkata Police of dissuading football fans from attending the East Bengal Vs Mohun Bagan game, fearing a protest at the venue over the August 9 rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in the West Bengal capital.

Sharing a purported recording of an officer at the Bidhannagar Police station phone call with a “football aficionado”, Malviya alleged that the Kolkata Police has been asking sports fans not to attend the East Bengal vs Mohun Bagan game, on the orders of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

“Mamata Banerjee has turned West Bengal into a police state. The tinpot dictator has ordered Kolkata Police to call individual sports enthusiasts, who were planning to attend the East Bengal vs Mohun Bagan derby and use the opportunity to demand justice for the RG Kar MCH rape and murder victim, and ask them NOT to attend the game,” the BJP leader wrote on X while attaching an audio clip of a purported phone call between a police officer and a “football aficionado”.

Mamata blames ‘Ram’ and Baam for RG Kar vandalism

The development comes days after Mamata Banerjee accused the CPI(M) and BJP workers of perpetrating a late night attack on the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in a bid to ferment chaos in the state.

On Thursday, Banerjee, after a meeting with the West Bengal Governor, told reporters that “outsiders”, who are workers of ‘Baam (Left)’ and ‘Ram (BJP)’ vandalised the RG Kar campus after they infiltrated the peaceful protest being held by doctors and students.

“I have information that some political party workers of ‘Baam and Ram’, who are outsiders, attacked the RG Kar hospital. I do not hold the students or doctors responsible. I condemn the incident and will hold a rally tomorrow to demand a death sentence for the accused,” the Trinamool Congress supremo had said.
